Join us: Internships for nurses and AHPs

Apply to join us on an internship and be part of projects that make a real difference. We are able to offer six internships commencing in November 2016 for six months funded by CLAHRC Greater Manchester in collaboration with the division of nursing, midwifery and social work at The University of Manchester. The internships are available part-time for UK registered nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs) working in the community in the NHS in the Greater Manchester area who hold a 1st or 2:1 degree in a relevant subject and do not already hold a research Masters degree or PhD. Funding covers 30 days salary backfill to the value of £7500 and £1000 educational programme fees. The purpose of the internships is to provide an introduction to research for those registered nurses and AHPs interested in pursuing a clinical academic career in the future. The internships comprise 30 days between November 2016 and May 2017 which will be spent within CLAHRC Greater Manchester, with five days spent participating in a structured educational programme with the other interns. By the end of the internship, interns will be required to give an oral presentation reflecting on how their research skills have developed over the period of the internship. This is an excellent opportunity to experience research and evaluation in a short, inspiring and interactive programme. The internship will provide you with the opportunity, resources and time to develop key research skills and develop a piece of work which can be used in your service following the internship. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in wound care, stroke or end-of-life care. The closing date for internship applications has now closed. For more information please contact Dr Carianne Hunt.
