A Sincere ‘Thank You’ to Nurses on International Nurses Day

Practising nurses across the region are key to the successful delivery of many of our health and care research projects here at NIHR CLAHRC Greater Manchester, so we have a great deal to thank them for. Since 2014, across wound care, end-of-life, Stroke, mental health, and kidney health - our programmes of work in those areas have required the hands-on expertise, commitment and support of nurses working in acute and community healthcare trusts throughout the region and beyond.  For that reason, they are all our #nurseheroes - so what better day to thank them than on International Nurses Day – the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. ‘Thank you’ to all CLAHRC GM’s #nurseheroes at:

At NIHR CLAHRC GM we are also very proud to support the professional development of nurses through our internship programme which aims to provide an introduction to research for registered nurses and Advanced Healthcare Practitioners (AHPs) interested in pursuing a clinical academic career in the future.  To mark International Nurses Day we caught up with former intern, Jo Stevens, Stroke Specialist Nurse and Team Lead for the Bury Community Stroke Team at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, to see how that experience has helped her to progress in the profession she loves.
