Setting healthcare service and research priorities in physical and mental health

Please help us identify the most important areas that you think healthcare services and researchers need to focus their efforts on. It’s widely recognised that many people with serious mental illness (SMI) suffer from poorer physical health compared to the general population. A number of factors contribute to this inequality, including reduced healthcare access, the effects of some antipsychotic medications, as well as lifestyle choices.

As part of our mental and physical health programme of work, we’re working to identify the most important areas that you think healthcare services and researchers need to focus their efforts on improving. We’re consulting with key stakeholder groups that have an interest in physical health and SMI, including service users, carers, healthcare professionals, researchers, prescribers and decision makers.

Have your say
Please click the link below to answer the question: 'What do you think are the main questions and uncertainties relating to the treatment and management of physical health issues in SMI?’ Give us your input. You can complete the form anonymously, but it would be helpful if you could select the box to show which type of stakeholder you are (service user, carer, professional etc).

If you have any questions about this work or about using the form, please email Rebecca Pedley (rebecca.pedley@manchester.ac.uk). Thank you for your help.
